A senior student from Thomas Jefferson High School in Alexandria, VA used the Global Heartbeat program and techniques for an oceanography technology lab project with her advisor, Mrs. Lisa Wu. Mrs. Wu attended the
BBSR training program and has interested her students in getting involved with research. The student researched the heartbeats of bivalves of the Chesapeake Bay watershed and added the information to the
Global Heartbeat database of general information. The student also studied how the heartbeat can be used as a bioindicator for some point of water quality that would stress the bivalve.
