- One-page color flyer can be used for informational or marketing purposes.
Getting Started:Here is a list of materials needed for your classroom or lab in order to implement the program.
Bioindicators:A presentation by Dr. Shaw Bamber that explains the basis for Global Heartbeat’s use of aquatic organisms as bioindicators. Discusses advantages and challenges of biomonitoring systems and the variables of these systems.
Inquiry-Based Learning:This section outlines the definition of inquiry and how it can be incorporated into the curriculum and implemented into science standards.
CAPMON Protocols:The protocols are a step-by-step approach to setting up the CAPMON equipment, calibrating it, attaching sensors to the organisms, and running the software. There are protocols for both the 2-channel and 8-channel CAPMON boxes.
Lessons:These classroom-ready lessons cover a variety of topics, including oceans and human health, crab and human physiology, and more.
Guides:This section contains worksheets for data collection and laboratory analysis.
Video Clips:View video clips of attaching the sensor to a mussel and a crab, watch a student and a scientist explain the procedure, and see what the heartbeat data should look like on the computer.
Partners:This is a list of organizations involved in Global Heartbeat.
