13. WEATHER AT QUILLAYUTE AIRPORT FOR SUMMER/FALL 1998
-REMINDER: BLOOM IN AUG/SEPT
-Average temperatures for 1998 similar to period of record
-Rainfall way below average for August and Sept
MESSAGE: LOW RAINFALL IS SUSPECT
While salinity and water temperature do not provide any apparent indicative factors, rainfall and winds may contain some promise. We collected weather observations from the Quilayute airport, close to La Push. The top section shows monthly 50 year average temperature and precipitation for the period of record. The bottom section are the monthly averages for 1998.
Average temperatures were similar, but precipitation was about an order of magnitude lower than normal in August and September. While average temperatures were similar, high temperatures were slightly higher than the 50 year average and low temperatures were slightly lower than normal.
