-POSSIBLE RELATED FACTORS
This is a new experience for us, participating in an online conference. Since it is new, please any faux pas we might make in this process. Before we begin, a little background about the Marine Biotoxin Group at the Northwest Fisheries Science Center. We are located in Seattle, WA and have been involved with HABs and biotoxins for the past 9 years. You can find out more about our activities at our web site:
http://www.nwfsc.noaa.gov/ec/tox/
In addition, we sponsor a web newsletter concerning HABs and biotoxin events on the west coast of North America. You can visit that site at:

Recently we just published a printed full color newsletter concerning HABs and toxins on the West Coast, a notice for the publication is in our online web newsletter. Best news is that it’s free, just email or mail us your name and address and we will send you a copy.
This will be a discussion of a bloom of Pseudo-nitzschia that was observed on the Washington Coast in the summer and fall of the 1998. But before beginning this discussion, a little background on the series of events and circumstances that caused us to observe this particular bloom.
