Events

These are short duration activities, ranging from an hour or a day to several months. We have completed one hour web casts with two video conferencing combined with streaming video to large audiences on specific topics for 45 minutes to courses of three month duration. We regularly offer one, two, three and four week workshops in collaboration with sponsors and partners.

Webcasts An example of this was a 45 minute video conference between the National Undersea Research Center's Remote Operated Vehicle Lab at the University of Connecticut and the College of Exploration home base that was then streamed over the web using Real Media video. Watch the archive video

Workshops An area that we think we have created a very effective model is with online workshops. These one, two, three or four week events can replace the need for face to face workshops when they are not economically or practically possible. Since 1997 we have offered online workshops on a range of topics from strategic planning to technology to tsunamis.

Conferences As with workshops we have offered a number of online conferences. They all replicate as much as possible the experience of attending a face to face conference. Conferences can have Registration, Reception, Social Areas, Main Halls and Presentations with live video and powerpoint streaming, Break out sessions, Libraries, Bookstores, Cafes, Videos, and more.

Courses The College of Exploration offers courses from graduate credit from partnering accredited universities. WE offer our own Professional Development Units certificates. Courses range from one week to 15 weeks in length.

Future Events For 2005--2006 a number of workshops are planned with the National Geographic Society, NOAA, the University of Southampton and others.
