Introduction:
Greetings.  My name is Ron Crouse.  I am head instructor of Marine Education at Oregon State University's Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, Oregon.  I design, educate and supervise presentation of over 20 programs featuring coastal to global environmental themes.  I oversee the education wing of the Marine Science Center, maintaining living laboratories, classrooms and associated high-tech equipment.  I am also North Coast Watershed Coordinator for CoastNet, an environmental quality monitoring program involving 33 middle and high school science classes providing sampling data to an on-line data base.

I am a graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in Environmental Education.  I began my career with the National Park Service at Fort Union National Historic Site teaching history and primitive living skills of the early 1800's mountain men.  I spent six years as a park ranger/interpreter with Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation at Farragut State Park and in 1992 I was offered a consultant position with Sea Reach, Ltd. and moved to the Oregon Coast.  I was responsible for the research and design of numerous environmental and historical interpretive exhibits, displays, nature trails and visitor centers throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.  I found the study of the ocean and the coastal environments to be very rewarding and naturally wanted to expand into teaching students about the wonders of the Pacific coast.

So here I am, offering you my new program "Mapping El-Niņo."
Have fun with it and try your hand at creating Sea Surface Temperature maps.  If you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact me.  Enjoy the workshop!
