Item 2 06-MAR-1998 20:04 Peter Tuddenham (peter)
To get things started Ron has put together a power point presentation. I have taken his slides and using Microsoft's office 97 converted them into web pages. Several images need some refinement which I am working on, and the quicktime movies are not plugged in yet.
However the presentation is all here otherwise and Ron has the classroom activity at the end.
I suggest you go through the presentation and then come back here and ask questions etc.
So, here is the presentation, just use the buttons at the top of the page to click through it.
oh yes also the house button takes you to the elnino login page and the i button will give you information about each slide plus the ability to download the original powerpoint presentation.
Ron,
I have started to go through your Power Point presentation and am finding it very helpful for my own learning ( I am not a classroom teacher so will not be using it with students, though. Thanks.
Hello again! It is good to see that you have come this far along in the workshop. You are now ready for some hands-on study of the 1997-98 El-Niņo event. For those of you who are teachers, I think you will find that this class provides a unique approach to the study of El-Niņo. For the rest of you, have some fun with the mapping activity and try your hand at generating computer models. I recommend that you first read through the entire program. I have provided you with a list of materials and all the necessary maps for you to download and copy. I hope that you will take some time to produce several SST anomaly maps this week. On March 18 we will add the "answers" as well as some follow up graphics to assist your classes in understanding El-Niņo. If you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate. I would enjoy hearing from you. GOOD LUCK!
The link to download the presentation is here:
