Classroom BATS brings real ocean data to your classroom via the World Wide Web. The project takes its name from the Bermuda Atlantic Time-series Study, a program of the Bermuda Biological Station for Research (BBSR). BATS scientists set sail every month to study the role of the ocean and its creatures in global environmental change.
The pilot phase of Classroom BATS linked BBSR scientists and data with prospective science teachers at Florida International University. This link was mediated via a virtual campus run by The College of Exploration.
Classroom BATS promotes inquiry-based learning in grade 6-12 classrooms. Lesson plans created by Classroom BATS partners are shared with teachers everywhere.
Join the exciting world of open-ocean and deep-sea research! Dive into Classroom BATS to explore the world´s largest and most mysterious habitat and the organisms that live there. |
