Chapter Two: Literature

[Introduction] [Constructivism] [Technology] [Merge] [Summary]

Introduction

The review of the literature is divided into three sections. The first section addresses constructivism and a model of constructivist learning. Also, there is a section on adult learning to augment constructivist and technology literature, as both of them were based on adult learning scenarios. The second section covers the technological aspects of this study: distance education, CMC, computer conferencing, and Web-based instruction. These topics incorporate online learning communities and learning networks. The last section attempts to merge constructivism and online computer technology, and illuminate the unifying concept that is interwoven throughout: interaction, online interaction in particular.
